Automad is released under the MIT license and is free to use - for private websites as well as for commercial projects. Note that Automad takes the privacy of its users very serious and therefore only a very minimum of telemetry data is transmitted from time to time.

At no point in time, private content or user data is transmitted anywhere.

However, to keep the right focus during development, it is required to understand what versions are still in use and what kind of environments need to be supported. Hence telemetry data is limited to the public domain name, the Automad version and the type of server (Apache, Nginx, etc.).
