Automad generates an RSS feed and an XML sitemap for your site. The feed lets visitors follow your content in a feed reader, while the sitemap helps search engines to find all of your pages. Both work without any setup.
RSS Feed
The RSS feed is enabled by default and available at /feed. It contains all pages that are publicly visible, except for pages that are hidden in the navigation. Each item consists of the title and the URL of a page, the date of its last modification, a short description that is taken from the first paragraph, and the full content of the page.
To configure the feed, open System Settings and select RSS Feed. There, you can disable the feed and choose which content fields are included. By default, these are the +hero and +main fields. Drag fields between the two areas to add or remove them, and sort them to change the order in which their content appears in a feed item.
Linking to the Feed
The feed is not part of the page tree, so it doesn't appear in navigations automatically. To add a link to it, add a new page and enter the URL of the feed in its Redirect page to another URL field.
Sitemap
Automad keeps a sitemap.xml file in the root directory of your site up to date automatically. It lists the URLs of all pages that are publicly accessible. Private pages and pages that redirect to another URL are left out.
In addition, Automad creates a robots.txt file that points search engines to the sitemap and excludes the dashboard from being crawled.
