Reserved Variables

Some variables have reserved names and are always available. They are managed by dedicated fields in the page or shared settings of the dashboard and are therefore not listed together with the fields of a template. Reserved variables can be used in templates like any other variable.

<title>@{ title } | @{ sitename }</title>

hidden page
Defines whether a page is hidden in navigations and pagelists by default.

sitename shared
The global name of the website.
slug page
The directory name of a page that is used to build its URL.
tags page
The tags of a page that can be used for filtering pagelists and to find related pages.
template page
The template that is used to render a page.
theme shared & page
The theme that is used to render the site, when defined in the shared data. The theme can optionally also be defined for a single page in order to override the globally defined theme.
title page
The title of a page.
url page
The URL of a page. It is possible to override that variable in the page settings in order to redirect a page to another URL. The original URL is still available as :origUrl.

Meta Data and Open Graph

metaTitle page
An optional title that is used for the <title> tag. By default, the page title and the site name are used.
metaDescription page
An optional meta description. By default, the first paragraph of the rendered page is used.
openGraphTitle page
An optional title that is used for the automatically generated Open Graph image.
openGraphImage shared & page
An optional custom Open Graph image that replaces the automatically generated one.

Customizations

A set of variables starting with custom is reserved for site-wide or page-specific customizations that are managed in the dashboard and are injected into the rendered page automatically. That includes custom styles (customCSS), scripts and integrations (customHTMLHead, customHTMLBodyEnd, customJSHead, customJSBodyEnd), the texts and colors of cookie banners (customConsent...) as well as the colors of generated Open Graph images (customOpenGraphImage...). The syntaxTheme variable defines the color theme for syntax highlighting in code blocks.
