Customizations

Open Graph & Favicons
Automad takes care of most metadata and icon-related details automatically, so pages are ready for browsers, devices, and social platforms right from the start. Without any configuration, sensible defaults are generated for things like page titles, descriptions, icons, and social previews. At the same time, Automad keeps everything transparent and flexible, making it easy to customize or override individual parts whenever more control is needed.
Scripts & Integrations
Automad allows you to inject custom HTML markup and JavaScript code into your site either globally or on individual pages. This capability enables seamless integration with third-party services such as analytics platforms and commenting systems.
Custom Styles
Customize your site's appearance by adding custom CSS at the global level or on individual pages. Custom CSS fields are located in Global Settings and Data → Customizations, as well as in the Customizations section of each page.
Cookie Banners
Automad automatically displays a cookie consent banner when a page includes embedded third-party content, such as YouTube videos, SoundCloud embeds, social media posts, or similar elements. This ensures your site remains GDPR compliant.
Layout Settings
Aside from just stacking blocks on top of each other, the block editor provides powerful features to create flexible layouts directly in the dashboard. Blocks can be stretched to the full width of their parent container and arranged in grids using Layout Sections. While the heavy lifting is done by the render engine in the background, templates and their styles have to be prepared in order to make layouts work as expected.
Custom Block Styles
Most of the blocks only consist of plain HTML tags without classes and simply inherit the styles of a theme. However, the default styling of more complex blocks like galleries, slideshows, callouts or the mail form might not match a theme out of the box. You can use CSS custom properties to style the rendered blocks in order to match the look and feel of your theme.
