Markdown Syntax

Automad understands Markdown Extra - a lightweight markup language based on Markdown.
The standard Markdown syntax can be used to easily create headlines, links, lists and image tags within your normal text.
The Markdown Extra syntax extends the standard one with some additional and very useful features.

Enabling Markdown

To use Markdown in your variables, the text must have at least one line break (multiline text). Single line text doesn't get converted to HTML. In case you want to use a text variable in your <head> section of a template, Automad skipps parsing the variable as Markdown as along its text consits only of proper head elements, such as <link>, <meta>, <title>, <script>, <style> and <base> tags.
